May Intention at CFBL

May at Center for Balanced Living

As we move into May, we are excited to share several updates happening at Center for Balanced Living. This month brings new opportunities for support, connection, creativity, learning, and grounding. We continue to expand services in ways that support emotional wellness, nervous system regulation, grief, trauma recovery, and whole-person care.

Group Offerings

Amanda’s Art Therapy Group

We are excited to share that Amanda will be offering an art therapy group at Center for Balanced Living. Art therapy provides a creative and supportive space for clients to explore emotions, increase self-awareness, and process experiences through art-making. This group is not about artistic skill or creating a perfect product. Instead, it focuses on expression, reflection, and connection in a safe therapeutic environment.

Art therapy can be especially helpful for individuals who find it difficult to put emotions into words, feel stuck in traditional talk therapy, or benefit from hands-on, experiential approaches. Through guided creative activities, participants will have the opportunity to explore themes related to coping, identity, emotional regulation, and personal growth.

Dr. Serravalle’s Pet Support Group

Dr. Serravalle will also be offering a pet support group. Pets are often deeply connected to our emotional lives. They can provide comfort, routine, companionship, and a sense of safety. For many people, the bond with a pet is central to their daily well-being, and the stress, illness, aging, or loss of a pet can bring real grief and emotional strain.

This group will provide a supportive space for individuals who are navigating the emotional experiences connected to pet ownership, pet illness, anticipatory grief, pet loss, or the unique role animals play in our lives. The group will focus on validation, connection, coping, and honoring the significance of the human-animal bond.

If you are interested in either group, please reach out to Center for Balanced Living to learn more or sign up.

CFBL aattended the MACC Luncheon

Center for Balanced Living recently attended a MACC lunch, which provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with other local businesses, community leaders, and professionals in the Middletown area. We value these opportunities to stay engaged with the community, learn about what is happening locally, and continue building relationships with others who are committed to supporting families, individuals, and businesses in our region.

Attending events like this allows us to remain connected beyond the therapy office and continue strengthening CFBL’s role as a community-centered practice. We are grateful for the chance to meet with others, share more about the work we do, and learn about the many ways local organizations are serving our community.

Continuing Education and Trauma-Informed Care

Dr. Serravalle will be attending a trauma conference in Boston from May 27 through May 30. The purpose of this training is to continue learning the latest research, clinical approaches, and treatment developments in trauma therapy.

At Center for Balanced Living, we believe that quality clinical care requires ongoing learning. Trauma therapy continues to evolve as we better understand the nervous system, attachment, dissociation, resilience, and the ways trauma is held in both the mind and body. Continuing education allows our clinicians to bring current, thoughtful, and research-informed care back to the clients and families we serve.

We are excited for Dr. Serravalle to bring this learning back to the practice as we continue to strengthen our trauma-informed services.

The Meditation Walking Path Is Complete

We are very excited to announce that the meditation walking path at Center for Balanced Living has been completed.

This path was created as part of our ongoing commitment to integrating nature, reflection, and nervous system regulation into the therapeutic environment. Walking, mindful movement, and time outdoors can support grounding, emotional regulation, and a deeper connection to the present moment. The meditation walking path gives clients an opportunity to slow down, breathe, observe, and reconnect with themselves in a peaceful outdoor setting.

Guided Walks Are Coming Soon

Now that the path is complete, we will begin offering guided walks. These walks will provide a structured opportunity to experience the walking path with therapeutic support and intention. Guided walks may include mindfulness prompts, grounding exercises, reflective pauses, breathwork, and gentle discussion.

This offering is designed for individuals who may benefit from movement, nature-based reflection, and a calm therapeutic space outside of the traditional office setting.

Sign up now to reserve your spot for upcoming guided walks.
