Dr. Niki Serravalle

Dr. Niki Serravalle's career began 23 years ago at Sheppard Pratt, where she was introduced to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma.

From there, she continued her training as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor for Mountain Manner in Maryland. After graduating with her Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, she began working with children and adolescents for Laurel Life in their IOP program. This is when she gained certification for Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA).

Over the next few years, her work transitioned to Delaware working for Community Mental Health and Silver Lake Treatment Consortium. As a licensed Professional Counselor of Mental Health (LPCMH), her training continued into the various treatments for trauma including EMDR, TF-CBT, and DBT as well as continuing the pursuit of emerging practices with ACT, IFS and CPT. She completed extensive training in Ecotherapy. She is currently certified as an EMDR therapist and working as a Consultant in Training for EMDRIA.

In 2010, Dr. Serravalle decided to pursue her Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). The degree offered advanced training in Psychological Evaluation. Dr. Serravalle fell in love with the science and the unique way that the evaluation process can demonstrate clinical certainty for diagnosis. Her practicum, internship and postdoc allowed her to study under a board certified neuropsychologist and a board certified school psychologists, offering a wealth of information about how these environments and systems can play a role in clinical work.

The Center for Balanced Living manifested as a result of wanting to create a space that would incorporate Dr. Serravalle's passion for quality care, therapy and assessment, as well as giving back to a community of providers who seek to grow their practices with evidenced based practice as well as emerging practices.

What our patients say...

Thank you immensely for the comprehensive report. I recognize the significant effort you and your team have invested in it. Gaining deeper insight into myself and understanding the roots of my challenges is invaluable to me. The report is both thorough and enlightening. I plan to share it with my therapist in hopes of making meaningful progress on these issues. Again, thank you very much.
Dr Seravalle is wonderful! Her attention to detail and understanding of testing information is wonderful. I appreciated that she would let the testing and scores be her guide in helping to determine, what, if any, additional testing was recommended. We couldn't be happier with the invaluable information she helped us to gather.
Jada is incredibly kind and understanding. She has a lot of empathy for the families and clients who come through the door. She is very thorough and always follows through.
Dr. Serrevalle was very welcoming and friendly. She put me at ease and helped me with practices to calm myself and let go of my anger and sadness.
