Nature-Informed EMDR: Ethical, Clinically Grounded Applications
A live, three-hour continuing education workshop for EMDR clinicians who want to think carefully about when and how nature-informed elements belong inside a standard EMDR case. This is not a new protocol — the eight-phase, three-pronged structure does not change.
The workshop examines how environmental context, sensory grounding, and ecologically attuned elements can serve as adjunctive supports during preparation, affect regulation, and integration. Three modalities are addressed: brought-in natural objects, virtual or representational nature contact, and in-person outdoor or window-mediated work. Contraindications, accessibility, and clinical decision-making are treated as central — not as an afterthought.

- Differentiate standard EMDR procedures from adjunctive nature-informed elements
- Identify clinical factors including dissociation risk, accessibility, privacy, and environmental unpredictability
- Apply nature-informed strategies to EMDR preparation and integration
- Evaluate when a nature-informed element is indicated, contraindicated, or outside the scope of standard EMDR
